A Brief History of Graphic Design

Starting with ancient pictograms on cave walls, visual communications date back to at least 10,000 BC. These graphic representations of ideas are still widely used today as ‘icons’ and transcend language and literacy barriers.

Though movable type printing originated in 105 AD, reading for education and communication purposes didn‘t gain momentum until the 1400’s, with the introduction of Johann Gutenberg’s printing press.
